Lara Butler – International Grand Prix Rider

Lara Butler (née Griffith) is a British Grand Prix Dressage Rider who resides in Gloucestershire. She is a rising star of British dressage and has progressed rapidly through the ranks from Young Riders to Grand Prix level.

Lara describes herself as the “Number 1 stable jockey for Olympic Gold & Bronze Medalist Laura Tomlinson” having joined the Bechtolsheimers as stable jockey in 2010. The biggest honour was when she was given the opportunity to train and compete Andretti H at Grand Prix level at the end of 2012, with her biggest highlight becoming Reserve National Champion at the British Dressage National Championships and competing at Olympia CDI and being placed in the Top 10. That was a moment Lara says she will never forget and cannot thank the Bechtolsheimers enough for giving her the opportunity!

Lara was team reserves for the World Equestrian Games team in 2018, as well as the 2017 European Championships and 2016 Rio Olympics.

Lara is due to compete her prolific Grand Prix campaigner and reigning National Champion Rubin Al Asad (Rufus) at Olympia in December. The pair, have a great track record at Olympia, having finished fifth in the freestyle in 2017 and fourth in 2015. Good Luck Lara!

““Dee and her strength and conditioning partner Ben are working with myself and the horses, including biomechanics to keep us all on the road and keeping me fit, strong and mobile throughout pregnancy, so that I can stay comfortable for as long as possible and get back in the saddle ready for my 2019 team campaign! So excited to continue working with them both and see how strong I can get!”
